A Desert Getaway, Four Seasons Style

If I could choose one place on Earth that brings me peace and a sense of calm, it has to be Arizona.  There are so many things that I enjoy about Arizona, the smooth roads, the tall mountains and let’s not forget the gorgeous resorts that  make for a perfect getaway.

I recently went to the Four Season Resort Scottsdale at Troon North for a little R&R and to escape the hustle bustle of Los Angeles for a weekend.

The drive up to the Four Seasons at Troon North is really simple once you get off the 101 North freeway in Scottsdale, you will start to notice the open desert even more the further you drive toward the Pinnacle Peak area.  The homes surrounding the resort have that Arizona West charm and would certainly be considered a Winter house dream for any big city slicker.

Nestled into the foothills, the adobe casita resort is thoughtfully designed for the area.  It has a mature and sophisticated vibe once you pull up to the valet.  The grounds are flawless and beautiful.  The valet service was friendly and check in was just as smooth.  The superior king casita is outstanding if you are looking for a specific type of room to book, it featured both a walk in closet and balcony, yes – a dream room for any girl or gay with a hefty wardrobe.

The short walk to the pool area was a nice surprise as I was happy to see a full bar on site and cabanas throughout the deck.  The Four Seasons Hotel experience is known for the top notch service. The staff at Troon North lived up to my expectations, they were friendly but professional and super responsive.

If you have been following my blog or have ever met me, you would know that I am a big spa-guy.  I like to think of myself as a “spaspert” which is short for “spa expert.”  I have worked in spas and frequented so many throughout the years that when I hit up a new spot, I get so pumped up to see if it will become my new fave.  Bring on the spa treatments is what I say!

The spa at the Four Seasons Troon North is more casual that fancy pantsy.  The reception and locker rooms did not blow me away.  There was nothing really extra special about them but consistent with the desert adobe style.  I think they should revamp the spa area and give it more of a five star modern desert oasis look to give it more of a youthful edge.

My spa treatment was nice, firm and did its duty in releasing any stress balls in my back (a 110 minute massage was well worth it). Overall, the resorts spa was good, the holding area where you wait for your therapist was blah but the treatment itself was delightful.

I definitely would recommend the Four Seasons at Troon North as a getaway stop for all my reserved, mature readers.  If you are looking for peace and quiet along with spectacular desert surroundings, and good golf than this place is a slam dunk.  Keep the kids at home, and make a reservations for you and your man for a weekend of serenity.
