Norway My Love

This afternoon, my boyfriend and I left the downtown area of Bergen, Norway and made our way to the Solstrand Hotel situated right on the shore of Bjørnefjorden.

securedownload-13For a hundred years, Solstrand’s exquisite location, beautiful surroundings and magnificent view of the Folgefonna glacier has fascinated traveler’s from both near and far. As soon as we pulled up to the bright yellow buildings, we knew it was going to be something  special.

securedownload-1This fabulous resort was built in 1896 by Christian Michelsen, who would go on to become Norway’s first prime minister after gaining independence from Sweden in 1905. He built it as a holiday resort for the Bergen merchant-princes so that they could “have a place to gather strength for their great deeds.”

securedownload-12We may not be princes but we certainly feel like ones. The views are so SPECTACULAR – they take your breath away.

securedownload-14Even their club sandwich was elegant.

securedownload-1We were also offered a complimentary glass of fresh apple juice – so lovely!

Can’t wait to take a dip in the fjord!

Wishing you all a great day!!
