Reconnecting With Positivity
My weekend trip to Philadelphia was extra special since I was able to celebrate the christening of my Cousin Olivia’s new baby, George Stephen. A simple gathering with my family takes A LOT of work because there is practically 1,000 of us that need to be fed and fit into one room. Not surprisingly, Olivia and her husband, Steve, pulled off a fabulous event for their handsome little boy.
I even put my Hollywood diet aside, cut into a piece of cake and lived a little.
Boy-oh-boy was that cake delicious!
I was in sugar heaven all afternoon! Take a look at these homemade Italian cookies from Steve’s lovely aunts (they seriously need to open up their own bakery – preferably next door to my house).
After all that dessert, a long walk through downtown Philly was definitely in order.
Going through each neighborhood is so exciting because you are bound to run into a national treasure.
I could totally live down one of these cozy, tree-lined, cobblestone streets!
The homes have so much character and charm. You feel like you are on a 1700’s movie set (with modern day cars)!
My Americana heart was so happy.
Everyone in the city was so nice to me! Strangers held doors open, people smiled, helped me with directions, etc.
Even on crazy South Street!
The friendly Philly vibe did not stop there! I was greeted with such kindness from the ladies that work at my new favorite clothing store, Lost & Found ! You must go in – they have a great selection for men and women!!
I think being around all that history, green nature, and warm neighborhood atmosphere was really good for me. It is nice to leave the gates of Hollywood from time to time and reconnect with what is truly important.
So when the world around you is only focused on what’s bigger, better, faster…
…and your mind if full of random thoughts..
And remember where you came from.
Have a blissful day.
