Escape To Ojai
I have been wanting to go to Ojai, California for a very long time.
Not just because stars like Reese Witherspoon, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have all called it home, but for the simple fact that every once in awhile I just need to get the hell out of LA.
What better way to get my zen on and feel normal again then surrounding myself with beautiful nature and picturesque landscapes.
Just 90 minutes North on the 101 freeway and through Ventura, the town of Ojai gently greets you as you drive through its magical mountain getaway.
What’s the big deal about Ojai?
That’s just it, there isn’t one AND that is the secret!
Ojai could possibly be the most non-pretentious city in California as the locals strive to keep up with its reputable low-key and not so super showy charm.
You won’t find fast food chains, strip malls or over the top restaurants, but rather unique, individually owned, quaint boutiques with earthy-hippie vibes.
After stocking up on artsy fartsy knick knacks and peppermint sorbet smelling soap, we sat down for homemade bean dip and shrimp tacos!
Along with Ojai’s gorgeous hiking trails, mediation retreats, pottery classes and organic friendly food, its biggest attraction has to be the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.
With weekend rates starting at $400 a night and a 50-minute massage priced at $140, the Spanish colonial-style resort is a hidden treasure. With three pools, four restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, a 31,000-square-foot spa, the Ojai Valley Inn is perfect for travelers who just want to escape!
So, whether you live in California or across the country, just know that you are only a hop, skip and a jump away from a little piece of heaven.
Ojai is the place where you can look up at the sky and be reminded of how amazing life is.
Is it time for you to get some fresh air?
