The sun is still shining bright in most parts of the US , but eventually we are going to start to see the leaves change colors, the temperatures drop, and the feeling of summer slowly fade away.
Some of you may look forward to the colder climate but as for the rest of you sun gods, I know you will be sad to see the surfing weather go.
Instead of acting like a bunch of beach bums, perhaps you should embrace the change and end the sunshine season with a bang!
Whether that means planning a girls getaway, romantic rendezvous, or just a little R&R, a quick escape to somewhere warm is exactly how you should celebrate your last days of summer!
When I think the of the perfect hot spot destination, I picture laying by a sparkling pool at a gorgeous resort in the Arizona desert. That super quick flight from LA to Phoenix is a big plus too (and so affordable!).
For years, I remember hearing about this historic resort called The Valley Ho in Scottsdale, Arizona (www.hotelvalleyho.com). Its futuristic, and trendsetting design not only got my attention but motivated me to book a “goodbye-summer-holiday!”
Hotel Valley Ho’s sleek look was originally designed by Edward L. Varney (a student of Frank Lloyd Wright), which quickly attracted some of Tinseltown’s biggest movie stars! From Natalie Wood, Humphrey Bogart, Frankie Avalon, Bette Davis, and Cary Grant, Hollywood’s most elite checked in, chilled out and lit up!
After opening its doors in 1956, the funky looking paradise was the go to resort for jet setters, business gatherings and fabulous events.
In 2005, Hotel Valley Ho was renovated into a four star retro-chic masterpiece with groovy new decor and historic charm.
I could not wait to kick back and get settled in at Arizona’s hippest hotel!
With my man in tow, our first stop was checking out our room at the property’s main tower.
Of all the hotels I have stayed at throughout the state of Arizona, this by far is my all time favorite room! I was absolutely blown away by the amount of SPACE, amenities, and stunning views!!
Each room has a mid-century/modern style and a private outdoor space and if you book a suite in their revamped tower, you get some of these kick-ass features…
A split living room big enough for a very fun party…
…a stocked kitchen with silverware, appliances, oven, microwave, large refrigerator…
….the coziest bed you could ever want…
…a walk-in closet, washer, dryer….
…and the most spacious hotel bathroom in town!
I seriously want to move in here. Our room was like a dream apartment and perfect for travelers wanting to feel at home!
Did I also mention Hotel Valley Ho offers a full list of spa treatments, a 24 hour fitness center, valet service, and cabana rentals? Talk about a one stop shop!
Later that night, we walked along Main Street in Old Town Scottsdale where you will find an array of art galleries, shops, pubs, and plenty of nightlife! You really don’t need a car if you stay at the hotel because you are just minutes away from all the action.
Looking at all that “ART” strangely made us hungry, so we chowed down at the ZuZu Restaurant back at the hotel. I have to say that it was one of the most colorful, creative and fun menus I’ve ever seen. ZuZu is known to dish up classic American food entrées with a unique twist – So, if you are in the mood for truffled grilled cheese, roasted spaghetti squash, and an orange frosty than this is the place for you!
Just make sure you scope out the dessert menu too, your taste buds will be in sugar heaven!
After a deep sleep in our tubular room, we woke up the following day to the sound of Katy Perry rocking out from our balcony window.
Well, maybe it was not actually Katy but the Valley Ho’s weekend DJ cranked out some wicked pool party music to get our fun in the sun started!
Before we jumped into our one-pieces, we had to take advantage of breakfast in bed! HELLLLLOO ROOM SERVICE!
We eventually made it down to Hotel Valley Ho’s glistening oasis!! Check out those palm trees and bright blue skies!
With cocktails in hand and fantastic people watching, chillin poolside was the highlight of our stay!
As the weekend came to an end, we had to say goodbye to our new favorite hotel. Our last hoorah of summer was beyond wonderful and we are so grateful to the friendly hotel staff who made us feel so welcome.
So the next time you need a little escape or just want to turn back the clock, please book a room at Hotel Valley Ho!
It is the bee’s knees and will sure be an experience you will never forget!
Until next time.
